Natural deterrents:
Skunks eat insects, small rodents and they are carnivores eat fruit and vegetable. The best way is to discourage them from coming have following preventive measures which reduce the chances of your property being visited:
- Cover your trash can tightly and make sure it does not turn around in the compartment.
- Feed your pets at home. Empty any bird feeders overnight. Spots eat almost any type of food.
- Remove piles of wood or waste so that they do not create a mess. If you cannot move the pile then cover it well.
- If skunks go into your trash and leave a mess, try pouring mustard or mothball oil on the waste floor.
- If rain, spray your plants with a mixture of water and hot pepper.
- If the vegetables in your garden are soft and you do not want to try the above remedy, you can plant cucumbers, squash, or other dirty plants in your garden.
- If you suspect that the skunk family has built a den on your property, boil the chopped yellow onion, chopped glepino pepper, and a tablespoon of cayenne pepper in water for 20 minutes in two curates. 8-When done, strain the liquid and pour it into a spray bottle, then knead it around.
Irish soap method:
You can buy Irish Spring soap which is cheap and cut the bar into squares. Then place the squares around your dustbin and other parts of your garden. The smell of soap helps to keep them away. There are many adores that annoy the skunks and they prefer to stay away from that side.
